The user recounts how they used 200,000 Microsoft reward points to redeem $210 in Microsoft gift cards. On top of that, they added a $100 Xbox gift card they’d bought from Costco. With all these credits, they used their credit card to purchase a Series X. But things didn’t go as planned.
Shortly after completing the order, the Redditor received an email from Microsoft notifying them of “some issues” with the purchase. Microsoft voided the order, but when the user checked their account, they discovered something strange: the order for the Series X had never been canceled and, in fact, had already shipped.
The Unexpected Refund
To make matters even more bizarre, Microsoft refunded both the original gift cards and points back to the user’s account. This meant that, instead of losing their credits, they had received a $300 refund and were left with even more to spend.
